Helene’s work celebrates the human spirit and life on our planet in all its forms.

Her preference for bright, vivid colors is rooted in her youth spent in the Mediterranean sun. Her painting style is bold and expressive. Cartoons, street art, medieval bestiaries and animal fables are a continuous source of inspiration. Often social issues find also a resonance in her work.

The animations are an extension of her painting practice. She blends brush strokes with video and photographs. They become meditative journeys behind the surface of her painted canvasses.

Helene lives and works in Brooklyn. She studied at the School of Visual Arts and the Art Students League in New York City and received an MFA from Florida State University.

Helene’s work has been exhibited in numerous shows and art fairs in the US and abroad. Recent solos shows and art fairs include 440 Gallery in Brooklyn, Galerie ArtSud in France, Ion Studio in Soho, the Asia Contemporary Art Fair in Hong Kong, Art for Florence Design Week and Ares Media Festival in Sicily.

Helene Mukhtar is now represented by The 155 Project in New York City and Broadfoot & Broadfoot in New Jersey.
